Kick Ass Fried Rice with Pork Belly
The Kick Ass Fried Rice is spicy fried rice topped with a poached egg, pork belly and spicy mayo! This was an interesting take on conventional asian fried rice, as one wouldn't think of adding mayo to a dish such as this. The pork belly was particularly enjoyable, as the pork was very supple and melted in your mouth upon contact. The sauce made the entire dish very savoury, as it was very tangy with a mild level of spiciness. The fried rice on it's own lacked "wok hey" but that didn't take away from the dish overall.
Fried Beet Fries
Apparently this is easily misinterpreted as fried beans as I heard the guy manning the counter asking more than two customers if they wanted fried beets or beans haha. I'm not one to go out of my way to order beets, but their signage had me intrigued. "Famous fried beets fries." Wait, beets, in the form of fries? I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of beets they gave me! They were all fairly uniform in size. The exterior skin was particularly flavourful as they were seasoned with a plethora of spices and cilantro. The beets were rather crispy and not mushy. The interior itself was a tad bit bland however.
