Bob's Submarine Sandwiches - Beside Richmond Centre!
Yesterday I went back to Richmond!! Boy, how I've missed this place! Remember when I use to blog about Richmond restaurants on an *almost* daily basis? Richmond just feels like home!! Now that I spend most of my time in Vancouver & Burnaby and it just isn't the same LOL.
I know what you're thinking, how could I go to Richmond without eating chinese food?!! How is that even possible? LOL. Welll, Bob's has been on my list for a while now, ever since I heard about their epic super subs haha, so since I was near Richmond Centre yesterday, I thought, why not? They're located in a small plaza beside the skytrain, beside Sakura Sushi (one of my ultimate faves.)
Bob's Submarine Sandwiches is like Richmond's own version of Duffin's Donuts, who else agrees? They even sell the same fritou's chicken LOL!
Something random that happened yesterday: as I was walking toward the skytrain platform, a tv crew (turns out it was Omni News) came up to me and started asking me questions about the Canada Line in Mandarin LOL! I really hope they don't air it because I was soooo awkward!
Super Sub 6 Inches $5.502.5/5 stars
This thing was huge!! I didn't end up finishing it lol. I just couldn't. It was too much haha! This thing was packed to the brim with double steak, double cheese, mushrooms, salami, and capicollo!
Flavour wise, it could have used a bit more work. Now I understand why they have so many sauces on the side, because the subs taste plain without it! Even with the copious amount of meat, all you could really taste was the onions and the cheese. The meat had no flavour. The "steak" was reasonably tender, albeit a bit dry. The salami was your typical generic salami, nothing to write home about. The mushrooms were nice and caramelized, and the cheese was completely melted. The buns were really thin but a bit too doughy for my liking.
This is what I added on my sub! What does "HP Sauce" even stand for? It was really sour, and looked like plum sauce lol.
Bob's is owned by a sweet Korean family, with the dad (I'm guessing) running the cash register, and mom & grandma at the grill!
Bob's operates like a cafeteria, you order at the front, they call your name when your food is ready and you seat yourself! Since everything is made to order it does take some time for them to make your meal, especially since they're so busy!
AMBIANCE - Casual
Bob's looks like your typical semi-ghetto American diner, with utilitarian chairs, and a condiment station at the front. They have this really loud Christian music playing in the background (Praise 106.5!) I actually knew every song that was playing LOL
PRICE - $/$$$
Most of their sandwiches are around $4, with a burger being as cheap as $2.95! Breakfast is an awesome deal as well, you can get bacon w/egg on toast for a mere $2.55! Bob's is super budget friendly! You could easily get full on pocket change!
VALUE - Poor/Okay/Good/GREAT
This is as cheap as a meal gets and pretty much blows Mcdonald's out of the water!! I can understand why Bob's is so busy, for the price, this place is great value! Everything is made fresh to order so nothing tastes stale!
