North Noodle House - New West Skytrain Platform
Yesterday I was actually planning on going to Tamarid Hill in New West...but things didn't go as planned because YELP had the wrong address on their app! GOOD JOB YELP. And since I was in a rush, I didn't really have any other options aside from the skytrain platform lol. I passed by North Noodle House, and the place was packed, so I decided to pop in for a quick lunch!
I've been really digging the transformation the New Westminster skytrain station is currently undergoing! I haven't really taken the time to scope the place out, but from what I observed, there are quite a few restaurants in the area and they're currently in the process of expanding!
North Noodle House specializes in Chinese style hand pulled noodles!! This place is the real deal, they really do make their noodles in house! I saw them haha! They also have noodle dishes, lamb skewers, even dumplings!Service was really friendly!! They were much friendlier than I was expecting lol! The lady spoke to me in Mandarin, and she was really polite and courteous! When I went to pay, the other lady was super friendly as well! She was all smiles and looked genuinely happy to see me LOL. The food came super fast, 2 mins after I had ordered!
SERVICE 4/5 stars
SERVICE 4/5 stars
AMBIANCE - Casual
The restaurant is fairly small, and can only accommodate 20 or so people, without feeling cramped. They have bar seating near the windows and 2 larger tables in the back. Their kitchen is open so you can see them making our noodles!
PRICE - $/$$/$$$
Most of the noodle dishes are around $9-10, which isn't too bad. The ingredients don't really justify the price, but the portion sizes make up for it. They also have noodle soups and appetizers like lamb skewers for $2!
VALUE - Poor/Okay/Good/Great
The noodle sizes were really generous, but they definitely skimped out on the meat! It's good for what it is, but I'm not sure if it's worth $10. I would rather get a large bowl of pho or ramen for that price!
Handmade Noodle (Cumin Flavour) with Pork $9.50
This amount was huge! Okay, for $10, I wasn't really expecting any less haha! What disappointed me was the fact that there was barely any cumin flavour! I should've asked them to add more haha...oh well. The noodles were great though, they're hand made, so they're really thicky, chewy, and have bite! The noodles were sauteed with some broccoli, bean sprouts and pork. Actually, there was barely any meat in this. I guess they make up for it by giving you copious amounts of noodles. ha
Giant Peach Tea from Starbucks $3.50
While I was studying in the library I bought myself some tazo from starbucks! The drink wasn't too sweet, and the peach flavour really came through. I've also tried their bottled iced green tea flavour, which I like better! You know what this reminds me of? The book "James and the Giant Peach!" by Roald Dhal LOL! I was hugeee RD fan growing up, I've read every one of his books! :D
