Summer school's starting up again on Monday >< Meanwhile, I'm here reminiscing about my lovely meal at Au Comptoir I had a few weeks ago!! I'm not going to lie...the best part about going to school is getting to eat around Kits!! Or just getting to eat in general...because after a 3 hour long lecture...there's nothing better than settling down to a plate full of FOOD!! <3 <3
...Okay, now I can't wait till school starts again so I can go back to Au Comptoir hehe. I really want to try their brunch next time!!
Au Comptoir is a french parisien cafe located in the heart of Kitsilano!! The interior is especially beautiful and breezy!! The waiters are all really friendly and have lovely french ancients! It can get really busy during meal hours, but since I was alone, I didn't have to wait for a table because I grabbed a seat at the bar! :D
Bavette Frites $19
Grilled Skirt Steak, Roquefort Sauce
For some reason I had "medium rare" in my head but I said "medium" instead *fail*
After taking my first bite I remembered and it was already too late...so it was tougher than I would have preferred, but it was still really yummy!! :D
The steak was perfectly seasoned, and the sauce was super creamy and flavourful! The portion size was very small, and I was still hungry after eating it hehe. Actually, I could have easily eaten 3 portions of that steak!! ;)
The fries were quite nice - they were crispy and very well seasoned with salt and pepper! I didn't try the salad (I'm allergic to raw veggies) but it looked really good!! :D
Guyss, how cute is this mini bread basket?? And the checkered cloth was such a nice touch!! The salted butter was delish too, perfect paired with their house made bread!! The bread was crunchy on the outside, and soft and moist on the inside! :D
Lemon Tart $7
SO YUM!! The best lemon tart I've had in...ages!! The exterior layer was super flaky and buttery, and the lemon flavour was super potent, with the perfect balance of sweet/tartness!! The cream on top wasn't overly sweet - but it was really fluffy and melted in my mouth!! Pricey yes - but so worth it!!
