Memory Corner

My dad had an appointment with his financial advisor today (he's been going to the same guy for 20 something years.)

FA: "My co-workers read your daughter's blog."
(Recall the conversation I had with my FA here: http://www.vancitynoms.com/2015/12/tai-one-by-bubble-world.html)

Dad: "Oh wow. I didn't know that."

FA: "Yea...but she's not profiting from it, is she?"

Dad: "No, she doesn't blog for money. She blogs because she enjoys it."

FA: "Well, she should definitely step up her game. Capitalize on it somehow."

  Dad: "Mhmm."

FA: "She doesn't have a job, right? What is she going to do after she graduates? Tell her to schedule an appointment with me, I'll talk some sense into her."

Sure, he means well, but c'mon, blogging for money? That's just not me. Well, if I ever consider blogging for money (i.e. as a career) it definitely won't be on Vancity Noms. I want to keep Vancity Noms as raw as possible. That was my premise when I first started this blog, and it still is!

Anyways, since school started, I've been slowly easing my way back into the swing of things. My classes are rather pleasant, but the commute really gets me. Commuting 4 hours for a 1.5 hour class? *sad face*

Since all of my classes start at 4pm this semester, I haven't been "hanging" around campus a lot. Since I don't arrive on campus until 3:30, meeting up with friends (i.e. during lunch) is definitely a challenge. I guess in a way, I am missing out on the whole "college" experience by being a commuter. Oh well. In the very least, I'm getting an education, right?

When I was in Richmond a few weeks ago, I went to Memory Corner for lunch (this was back when I was still able to eat gluten.) I wish I had discovered this place sooner, because Memory Corner is seriously...legit! I definitely want to go back and try more of their dishes!

The menu at Memory Corner is different from your regular bubble tea place. They specialize in lamb dishes, and they offer a ton of hard-to-find regional Taiwanese dishes!

Salt & Peppery Chicken Nuggets Set
4.5/5 stars

OMG, the Taiwanese S&P chicken is so good here!! Memory Corner over Pearl Castle, Bubble World, etc, any day! This is what you would call a properly done S&P chicken. Full on 5 spice, lightly battered, and super juicy!

Side Dishes
4/5 stars

I asked for extra green veggies and they totally complied! The veggies were great; fresh tasting and full of flavour! The rice that came on the side was a very generous serving!

I have the same white chair harhar...

  1. Haha seems like everyone is reading and enjoying your blog! I hope to get there someday!

A 4-hour commute sounds terrible... that's why I chose SFU over UBC. Think of all the sushi you can get in 4 hours. Oh wait, I go on 5-hour commutes myself just to get sushi sometimes...
